FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team at BRP includes Corporate Finance; Sales & Marketing; and R&D, Procurement and Manufacturing.Corporate Finance helps consolidate, analyze and prepare financial presentations for the CFO, CEO and various executive committees. We also help maintain and improve our financial planning and management reporting tools, and integrate new processes, products, and acquisitions into these reporting tools. We manage all financial analyses for the vehicle price proposals and monitor profitability by vehicle model. Finally, Corporate Finance handles business plans for new products – for example, for a change of platforms, electrification of vehicles or other modes of transport, digitizing and adding connectivity to our products, and other concepts. 
Sales & Marketing typically addresses several questions, ranging from whether to increase rebates or spend more on publicity when groups are late in their sales plan, and if so, how much and where, to questions on currency fluctuation and its impact on our pricing worldwide. We also help to establish the minimum margin on a production line to attract new customers, measure the return on investment (ROI) on marketing campaigns and promotions, and examine the main risks and opportunities to year-end versus our market commitment.
R&D, Procurement and Manufacturing follows, controls and recommends how to optimize all financial aspects from product development to sourcing to manufacturing and distributing our products. We lead business cases on product development, sourcing strategy, manufacturing capacity and distribution optimization. We also contribute to leading a leaner and predictable organization by defining and tracking key cost drivers. We are controllers and active business partners of teams in Canada, Mexico, Austria and Finland.

“I feel fortunate to have worked at BRP since the early stage of my professional life, and I am about to celebrate 10 years within the same company. I first started as a Financial Analyst in BRP Brazil, and then became a Financial Coordinator for Latin America. 

I had the opportunity to travel in many different countries such as Canada, Mexico and Switzerland. I also went over a system implementation (SAP) and relocated to the USA. Just over two years ago, I started my new role as Finance Manager in North America. What a journey it has been!”

“I started my professional career in 2005 as a Controller for a big manufacturing and packaging company in the USA. From there, I moved to an Italian chocolate manufacturer, and I was involved in two greenfield investments, North America and Asia as a FP&A Manager.

In 2016, I joined BRP Mexico in Querétaro as a Finance Manager and since then, it has been quite a ride! I'm very proud to have been part of this growth. In 2020, I was transferred to Canada and now I am leading Cost Accounting for the Product Engineering Manufacturing Operations division.”

Financial Accounting & Control involves an understanding of how the business works to analyze and translate complex accounting information and make strategic recommendations. We use our creative judgement and problem-solving skills, and we collaborate with other team members. “Following my university studies, I joined a well known international accounting firm. I performed in different areas, such as audit and consulting services. Some time later, I joined BRP as Manager of Financial Information –
a couple of days before the end of a fiscal year. I had to leverage my ability to adapt and learn quickly.

Today, I am responsible for publishing our external financial statements and resolving complex accounting challenges. BRP products are powerful and very quick – we can feel it in every sector of the company, even in Accounting.”

TAXATION

Taxation works with all business units to create added value by offering its recognized expertise and innovative ideas in a stimulating, engaging and motivating environment. With a multidisciplinary team made up of – among others – tax specialists in taxes and sales taxes, economists and financial analysts, our mandate is to ensure the company’s compliance with various tax laws and to support operations. We leverage their expertise and find opportunities, while acting as a protector and assessing tax risks for the company’s business units worldwide. This team is involved in all projects related to the company’s development. From restructuring to organic growth or acquisitions, we are responsible for managing the evolution of the legal operating model. We aim to minimize tax risks while optimizing our position, and consider the company’s operational needs.

“In 2015, I started my career as a CPA at an accounting firm. Three years ago, I joined the BRP tax team, and I was quickly given the opportunity to take on more responsibilities. Today, I have the pleasure of serving as a resource person for large-scale projects such as business acquisitions and product launches. As part of my duties, I’ve also had the opportunity to travel abroad to defend BRP’s business decisions before foreign tax authorities.

TREASURY

Treasury is made up of dynamic professionals acting in an international setting, organized around six main pillars: cash management, banking, foreign exchange, financing/capital allocation, pension, and risk management. Our main functions include treasury transformation through technology levers (automation of cash management, implementation of new banking technologies and payment solutions, etc.). We also manage banking relationships across all six pillars of the department, as well as managing a credit agency relationship. We strategize and execute the FX management at both the local and consolidated level, negotiate financing agreements (e.g., debt agreement, retail financing, etc.), and monitor and maintain compliance and adequate partnerships. Last but not least, we participate in other capital structure initiatives (SIB, NCIB).

“I discovered my passion for finance through trading simulations. I decided to pursue it and graduated from HEC Montréal with a bachelor’s degree in finance while also completing my CFA exams. From there, I made the jump to BRP’s treasury department.

Working in risk management during the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging due to the extreme foreign exchange rate fluctuations.
